Language Activity Resource Kit (LARK-2)

This is the second edition of the Language Activity Resource Kit (LARK-2) for use in language therapy with adults who have moderate to severe language disorders.

The materials are useful for therapeutic interventions targeting the right hemisphere dysfunction and in speech production tasks aimed at improving intelligibility. LARK-2 is a versatile tool, allowing the clinician to draw on various approaches, methods and techniques to restore their patients' ability to communicate effectively.

Included objects are associated with specific functional daily activities, making them helpful in treating patients with Aphasia and other language deficiencies resulting from brain trauma or neurological disorders. They can be used with patients of all levels of severity.

LARK-2 includes an increased collection of manipulative objects (from 22 to 25) and these are now more portable for busy clinicians  including items such as a sock, plate, envelope, penny, ruler and many more. This version includes newly updated photographs, illustrations and printed materials as well as an additional 75 printed cards (action photos, phrase closure cards and question cards). Cards have sentence closure phrases using LARK vocabulary and question cards that also require a response using the LARK vocabulary. The LARK Workbook provides therapists with engaging and reproducible activity and exercise sheets for use in hospitals, clinics or other rehabilitation-based settings. They can also be sent home with the patient as an extension of face-to-face therapy.

The Manual and Workbook explains how to use LARK materials in adult speech and language therapy sessions and how to help patients achieve a functional level of communication. Suggestions are included on how to use the materials to enhance comprehension and expression generally and to aid language-impaired patients with functional communication.
